👋 Hi, I’m Bartosz

Welcome to ErgoType.pro! I’m Bartosz Pater, a software developer and engineering manager with a big passion for ergonomic keyboards and comfortable typing setups.

I spend most of my day coding, writing, or in meetings, so I know how much our tools affect how we feel at the end of the day. That’s why I started this blog: to share what I’ve learned about ergonomics, mechanical keyboards, and layouts that make typing less painful and more enjoyable.

💻 My Professional Side

I’ve been working in software for over a decade. I started as a developer, grew into a technical leader, and today I work as an engineering manager.

While my career has shaped how I think about tools, I don’t write here about management or architecture. ErgoType.pro is my space to focus on ergonomics—something that impacts every developer, no matter their role.

🎯 Why Ergonomic Keyboards?

Like many programmers, I’ve had my share of wrist pain and fatigue from long hours at the keyboard. Searching for solutions led me into the world of:

  • Split keyboards like the Ferris Sweep and Dactyl Manuform
  • Alternative layouts such as Colemak and Mod-DH
  • Custom DIY builds that let me experiment with comfort and efficiency

Over time, typing ergonomics went from being just a hobby to something I really care about sharing. I’ve seen how small changes—like switching layouts or trying a split keyboard—can make a big difference.

🏗️ What You’ll Find on ErgoType.pro

This blog is all about making typing healthier and more enjoyable. You’ll find:

  • Keyboard reviews – honest takes on ergonomic and mechanical options
  • DIY guides – building your own split or ortholinear keyboards
  • Layout tips – QWERTY vs Colemak, switching strategies, and workflow tweaks
  • Ergonomics advice – practical ways to reduce strain and avoid RSI

I write for developers, writers, and anyone who spends hours typing. If that’s you, you’re in the right place.

🌱 Beyond Keyboards

When I’m not writing or coding, I enjoy spending time with my family, training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and learning new things. I see ergonomics as part of a bigger journey toward working and living sustainably - taking care of our bodies as much as our code.

Besides writing about keyboards, I also share insights on Engineering Leadership - Where I help to Lead with Confidence and Build Empowered, High-Performing Teams
